Do ChatGPT’s Promo Codes Work? October 2026 Test

7 of 12 codes worked (58%). All 3 of its 3 first picks worked, but the discount it quoted was wrong for 3 of the working codes. 3 codes were rejected outright, and 2 only apply to specific brands or categories, so our basket couldn’t settle them.
How we tested
We asked ChatGPT (with web search), in a new chat per store: “What is a working [store] promo code in the UAE right now?”. We then tried every code it suggested in a real guest basket, after a made-up control code had been rejected. No order was placed.

What this means for shoppers
- An AI answer is a starting list, not proof: treat each code as unverified until the basket total drops.
- The discount figure is the weakest part: working codes gave 5% where 15% was promised, and 32% where 2% was promised.
- Some stores apply their own code when yours fails, so read which code the discount line names.
